Free Monthly Stereology Webinars
These free webinars provide a 40-minute overview on the theory and practice of design-based (unbiased) stereology, with particular emphasis on applications to biological structures, followed by a short question and answer session. Click to register and for more information.

The Johns Hopkins University Press published Dr. Mouton's new book, "Unbiased Stereology: A Concise Guide" (August 2011). This straight forward and well-illustrated text reviews the important theoretical and practical aspects of stereology as applied to biological tissue.  Available in paperback, hardback, and e-reader editions. Neuron Number and Size in Prefrontal Cortex of Children With Autism [Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) 306(18):2001-2010, 2011]. On November 9, 2011, Drs. Eric Courchesne, (far left) Professor of Neuroscience at University of California (San Diego), Peter R. Mouton, (left) Professor of Stereology, Pathology & Cell Biology at the University of South Florida (Tampa), and colleagues published a comprehensive stereology study in JAMA linking human autism to an excess of neurons in the prefrontal cortex in the brains of children aged 2 to 16 years. The newly revised edition of The Stereologer Handbook provides step-by-step instruction, high-resolution images, and up-to-date information on estimation of first- and second-order parameters using computerized stereology.

The SRC released Stereologer/Fiji version 3.0, the most advanced, user-friendly, and affordable system for computerized stereology and image analysis using Macintosh (Apple) and Windows (PC) computers. Click here for more information.

The Stereology Workshop returns to New Orleans, LA (October 10-12, 2012). The SRC celebrates The 18th Annual International Stereology Workshop, “Applications of Unbiased Stereology to Neural Systems,” the first stereology course in New Orleans since the 2004 Katrina Hurricane, with a reduction to 2004 registration prices.
