18th International Fall Stereology Workshop
"Applications of Unbiased Stereology To Neural Systems"
October 10-12, 2012New Orleans, Louisiana
18th Annual Fall Stereology WorkshopStart time/date: 8:30 AM Wednesday, October 10, 2012 End time/date: 5:00 PM Friday, October 12, 2012
Followed by the Annual Meeting of the Society for Neurosciences New Orleans, October 13-17, 2012.
Note: This is the original Fall Stereology Workshop that has been held annually since 1995 in conjunction with the Society For Neurosciences, and not associated with "other" Stereology Workshops, i.e., those not affiliated with the Stereology Resource Center. Early registration for this popular course is highly recommended to ensure a seat.
Workshop OrganizerThe founding director of the Stereology Workshop is Peter R. Mouton, Ph.D., Professor of Stereology in the Department of Pathology & Cell Biology at the University of South Florida School of Medicine in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Mouton is author of the two books on design-based (unbiased) stereology published by The Johns Hopkins University Press and author/coauthor of dozens of stereology studies and reviews in the peer-reviewed scientific literature during the past two decades.

Proven Teaching MethodsThe Stereology Workshop is the longest running, most cost-effective and comprehensive stereology training program in existence. Instructors provide a range of effective teaching techniques and formats proven by decades of experience. These approaches include formal PowerPoint lectures, data presentations, one-on-one instructor-participant sessions, and hands-on training with computerized systems. This workshop includes demonstration of computerized stereology systems and emphasizes the underlying theory and practices needed to design and complete studies using all commercially available systems for computerized stereology.
Stereology FacultyEstablished, professional teachers bring strong experience in study design, histology, and peer-review of stereology publications and funding applications.
Since 1995 two internationally recognized experts in the field of unbiased stereology, Professors Mouton and Gokhale, have provided the leadership for these course.
Course Director: Peter R. Mouton, Ph.D., Professor of Stereology at the Department of Pathology & Cell Biology at the University of South Florida School of Medicine in Tampa, Florida, USA.
